Safe pediatric sedation.

What kinds of sedation do you offer?

I was referred to your office because I was told my child needs sedation.

Safe pediatric sedation. At Jamboree Dentistry, we provide conscious sedation as well as general anesthesia performed by an anesthesiologist. Under conscious sedation the child is awake for the procedure. Under general anesthesia the child is asleep for the procedure.

A Comfortable Dental Treatment

At Jamboree Dentistry, your child’s health and comfort are a priority. Our office utilizes industry-perfected tools and services, and each has been outfitted for your child’s comfort. Oral sedation, general anesthesia, and laughing gas are all great options, and each promotes comfort while effectively reducing fears and anxieties.

Conscious Sedation

Conscious sedation is an option for children who are older (six years or more) and are mildly apprehensive. This highly effective method can be administered in oral form or in an inhalation method using nitrous oxide (N2O-02).

When a child requires oral sedation, even though it is light enough for the child to stay awake, the child will need to take it easy, resting for the remainder of the day. We generally recommend that children do not go back to school the same day that any treatment is done.

General Anesthesia

Deep sedation is sometimes necessary for children that are unable, by either age or maturity level, to cooperate during dental treatment. Our practice utilizes anesthesia for cases where the patient may pose a threat to their own safety during treatment. This will be discussed with the parents/guardians of the patient before treatment to ensure the optimum beneficial outcome.

If general anesthesia has been used for the dental treatment, the child will need to take it easy and rest for the remainder of the day as well. Sometimes children may continue to have some effects from the anesthesia the next day. When children experience extreme tiredness or other general anesthesia effects into the next day, it may be a good idea to keep the child at home where they can be monitored by an adult.

There are many safe and effective drugs available today that can help relax the child and promote a good environment for optimal and safe dental treatment. Jamboree Dentistry can provide the right options for your child.
