Resolutions for your Teeth

It’s important to start the new year with good habits to have a healthy mouth and smile all year long. The simpler a practice is, the easier it’ll be to keep, so start small and simple to work everything out. Here are a few tips to get your oral journey started on the right foot:

Drink More Water: It’s simple, but often the most forgotten part of oral care, drinking more water. It helps wash away leftover food and bacteria from the teeth and the mouth overall. Tap water in most cities contains fluoride, a natural mineral that helps prevent tooth decay and strengthens the enamel.

Brush and Floss: This may sound like a broken record, but brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing once a day is the foundation of a happy mouth. Brushing does wonders just removing plaque and preventing gum disease. Flossing removes stray food particles that may be collecting bacteria for hours or even days.

A Healthier Diet: Believe it or not, what you eat has a lot to do with your teeth. Dairy products, dark leafy greens, and certain fruits can contribute to shiny, healthy teeth. Your mouth is the starting point of your teeth health and the overall health of your body. Cutting out excess sugar and empty calories will do wonders that you’ll see and feel.

Get Your Dental Checkups: Get a dental exam and cleaning at least twice a year. You can go more often if you like, but it’s recommended twice by the American Dental Association. If you put off your cleanings for 2021, 2022 is the right time to get back on track and take control of your health.
